For several years, we have been training accountants to understand their role in sustainability, either through the Dutch accountants’ association NBA under the Permanent Education (PE) scheme, or in-house for the Big-6 accounting firms. We have provided one-day trainings as well as designed and implemented full training programs. Through our support, we have built much more sustainability capacity among professionals in accounting and auditing roles.

We helped a client in the food retail industry to further professionalize their internal (sustainability) organization. We established a scheme of roles and responsibilities, internal controls, reporting lines, cooperation between divisions, and the embedding of sustainability in processes. As a result of our support, they are now better positioned to execute their strategy in an efficient and effective manner.

We supported this company in setting up and improving their external Integrated Report, which resulted in positive feedback from users and acclaim through dedicated prizes for external reporting. Additionally, we ensured that the Integrated Report was connected to internal reporting lines and was also ‘assurance-proof.’ To achieve this, we improved their internal reporting framework and executed pre-assurance activities at the head office and 8 local entities. We also assisted in EU Taxonomy calculations and helped the company maximize the benefits of ESG ratings with minimal administrative burden.
